GREEN FASHION...GREEN LIES!!

Many years passed since the world started to understand the global warming phenomenon. Technology and science provided theories, excuses and causes of the global warming...and still keep producing new evidence about the current status and the possible threats for the humankind. However, the changes we observe almost every year since then, are the hardest proof that the environment is reacting to human intervention. When we see old movies in the TV and we see how in early 1900s the people lived and how the cities were small pieces inside forests, by the deep blue sea, by the rivers, we conclude that we occupied nature and now forests, sea and rivers are the small pieces by the cities or generally by the human occupation. Fires, floods, pollution, deforestation are broadcasted by the media every day now. Eco-news, eco-shows, eco-reality, eco...eco...eco. The eco- compound in words is now "cool". It is "cool" to buy eco-tshirts, eco-food, to drive bicycle, hybrid cars, to donate money to reforestations, rivers renaissance, to eco-campaigns. Well, it may be the truth that people now are more sensitive in ecology matters, which is indeed a very good and positive view of human action, but do the people really know what happens to nature, what happens in earth's crust? Are the people sure that mankind caused the global warming and changes in the natural environment?

In the film-documentary "THE GREAT GLOBAL WARMING SWINDLE" by Martin Durkin, as it



was broadcasted in Channel 4 UK, scientists elaborate their views about the cause of the global warming case. They argue that this is not human's fault or that human contributing some 2% to the current status of global warming. Well, at first it may sound very radical, but it is surely an opinion that must be put forward in order to have our own opinion about climate change and not leave others present us with stories and dramatic announcements about the "end of the world". At the end of the article all parts of this documentary are presented. It may not show the complete truth or it may be a lie, but if we do not listen to different opinions, then common sense cannot be objective.

I remember that at the late 80s and early 90s, the summer in Greece was really hot. Temperatures of around 40+ Celsius in many cities in Greece was an every day phenomenon. The air-conditioners were not so popular then, and we tried to "fight" heat with ventilators and lite-clothing. There was a huge problem with water - drοught and the governments were passing legislation and penalties for voluntary waste of water. Private TV stations were in their beginning of their era and the panic for water insufficiency was spread with more responsible manner than today. The Greeks learnt then about global warming and the effects of a hole in the earth's crust. But then rain came, the water level increased and we believed that everything came to normal and the global warming was not so bad. Then, the last few years there were again high temperatures (even higher that in the past). But now the cause is the even bigger hole in the crust, created by the million of cars that pass through Athens center every day and that most of the forests surrounding Athens are burnt. No scientist came forward (or many were left out) to the Mass Media to honestly prove that the climate has not changed dramatically since the last high temperatures in Greece. All the media spread the panic of the end of the world and offered to the world a new fashion....Green Fashion!

Nowadays, all the people of this planet believe that the earth is going to its end and the route is already made and no return back. The ecologists are urging us to have a more sensitive to the environment way of living, including avoiding cars, recycling, bio-products etc. Almost every week, a new research is coming out estimating the duration of earth's life. Today, I think that earth has some 100 years to live on and...that's it! The funny thing is that all the measures have to be taken by the simple people, whereas the heavy industry or petroleum companies are out of touch or protected by strong laws and multinational interests. In addition, the eco-movement is strongly attached to the left and socialist ideas and the left-wing parties are the leaders and the only expressionists of the eco-panic. This exclusive privilege of the socialists has given the step, where many radical left (often anarchist) organizations stand and, "at last", are heard after really long absence from political matters. 

On the other hand, no one can doubt that humans are destroying their own home. They always did. While technology offers many new achievements, humans find new ways and places to practice these achievements and the natural environment is the free and until now huge experimental place. One should remember the atomic bomb, the nuclear accidents, the sea pollution from tankers, huge fires, deforestation. These took place because of human's greediness. Our earth is in pain, and that is true. However, no one can adopt the uniqueness of the environment defender. The eco-movement, as I said before, is a brilliant incentive of humans, but it should not take advantage of its rights and its global voice. Where was this movement, when only few organizations, like Greenpeace, WWF etc, were acting against violation of the nature all alone? When the members of these organizations were risking their lives to stop a tanker, to stop whale-hunting, to stop nuclear factories, the movement was absent. Many of the "newcomers" in the nature's defence were enjoying their comfortable lives, because they thought that these people (Greenpeace, WWF etc) were only stupid activists, who had money and nothing else to do. Today, everyone is on their side, but still most of the newcomers prefer to act through spreading panic, publishing reseach results and writing their easy-made objections through Facebook, Twitter and social networking.

The damage is already made and not at the level that the eco-movement is shouting. And the damage was made, because people voted for parties that are connected to interests and multinational companies, which cannot afford to lose money to protect or even think about the environment. And the people is still voting them and simultaneously they feel angry that the governments are ignorant towards the protection of  the environment. That is at least bizarre! So, what do they do the newcomers? They publish articles in scientific magazines about the end of the world, about the specific duration of earth's life, about eco-models. They analyze every natural phenomenon as the signs of the environment change. It is raining....the rains are too strong! it is sunny....the sun is too hot! It is windy....the wind is so strong than ever in the millions of the years of the earth. So, who caused the Ice Age? Was it my car? Was it the microwave? Was it the fish, that used to live then? Why dinosaurs were disappeared? Did the monkeys hunt them and they vanished the whole species? Why so huge floods are mentioned in the books of the Earth's history? Who caused them? Were there aliens? Should we prosecute God for doing that?
